Fair Trade Adventures

From coffee and chocolate to wine and clothes, fair trade products are now ubiquitous on any given high street. Although incredibly diverse, what all these products represent is a commitment to paying fair prices for raw materials and supporting the producers and their communities.

Therefore, we are now thrilled to be able to welcome you to Fair Trade Adventures: personal, affordable and rewarding travel experiences that have a positive impact on destinations. Fair Trade Adventures are brought to you by Cafédirect Producers’ Foundation (CPF) in collaboration with Sumak Sustainable Travel, a UK based social enterprise specialising in Latin American ecotourism.

Our partnership is based on our commitment to ethical business practices and sustainable development, which empower and protect local communities. For us, tourism is about creating personal, affordable and rewarding travel experiences that have a positive impact on destinations.

You will meet some Cafédirect Producers during the tours, and 10% of what you paid goes straight to support the foundation’s work!

These 2-week, small group tours will take you to some of the most iconic places in Latin America, but will also give exclusive access to some of its most remote, beautiful and tranquil places. You will immerse yourself in the culture and integrate with the communities, living like a local. Learn how to roast organic coffee, to make organic chocolate, or to cook delicious local recipes.

The community-based approach championed by Sumak Travel helps to build a sustainable relationship between communities and travellers. Sumak works directly with local community tour operators in Latin America and offers inspiring bespoke journeys that put the needs of the community first – all at a fair price. Community-based tours offer authentic, experience-rich holidays to responsible travellers – which also have a positive impact on the local communities and the environment.

All our Fair Trade Adventures include English-speaking guides, fair trade workshops, visits and activities, plus excursions such as sightseeing, wildlife-watching, trekking and horseback riding. Accommodation in boutique hotels or home-stays, internal flights and ground transportation are also included. For travellers looking for something more active or conventional, we offer optional excursions and special add-ons trips, which can be added before or after the tour.

Groups size is between 6 and 10 travellers, so places are very limited, you can find more information in the brochure. To book your Fair Trade Adventure now, or request more information, write to fairtrade@sumak-travel.org or call 020 36424246!
